Michael studied Transportation Design at Art Center College of Design in
California (a school known for producing many of the world's car designers).
Graduating in 2004, he set out to work with BMW and Audi in their respective
Los Angeles-based design studios, and then went on to freelance design for a
lot of the industrial automotive companies in the SoCal area.
While this was happening, he found his passion for scale modeling again (a
previous childhood hobby), and utilizing his art and design training to
create scale models of famous tanks of the world. One thing led to another,
an opportunity came knocking in 2012 to start his own publishing company
based around his hobby work, incorporating his abilities in graphic design,
photography, writing and of course, painting and weathering. Thus Rinaldi
Studio Press was born with the launch of the TANKART series.
Recently in 2016, RSP launched a second book series called SM Series to
expand RSP into new genres of the hobby. Driven by the desire to educate,
inspire and challenge the scale modeler into achieving the best with their
own projects, Michael spends his time working on RSP projects out of his
Portland, Oregon home base. When not working at the bench (or on the
computer), he is enjoying the local region for its rugged beauty, or well
known local beer industry. A fan of F1 and vintage cars, Michael will build
many a model while watching American football.
