Mig

MIG Jiménez was born in 1973, in the city of Pamplona, in Northern Spain.
He obtained a Bachelor ́s degree in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca, Major in Graphic Design and Audiovisual Studies. He got top scores in various subjects, like Psychology of Visual Arts, Architecture, Graphic Design and Drawing.

In 1995, he started his career as a professional modeler publishing in several European maga- zines. By the year 2000 he was already publishing in more than 14 languages and 18 countries around the world, like Japan, China, South Africa, Russia and most other European countries. MIG continued collaborating with hobby magazines, but he also started to write his own pu- blications specialized in painting techniques. The books of the FAQ series became some the bestselling books in our hobby. Today he is the editor and founder of the world-renowned The Weathering Magazine, especially focused on painting and weathering techniques and published in 8 different languages. MIG Jiménez is also the author and editor of many modeling publications and encyclopedias with nearly 200.000 copies sold since 2014.

At the start of his career he entered numerous competitions, winning hundreds of awards in some of the most prestigious shows of Europe and the US. Nowadays he no longer takes part in contests, deciding to contribute to the hobby in a different way: as a member of the jury in many shows around the globe.

In 2002 he founded his rst modeling business, quickly becoming an expert in the hobby industry and popularizing dozens of new painting techniques and products that helped to greatly improve the work of modelers. In 2009 he created his second modeling business, a brief interlude that served as a springboard to launch in 2013 his largest-ever business project: AMMO.

Currently he is focused in AMMO, as its Creative Director and President, combining business management with his continued didactic work. Since 2004 MIG has had the opportunity to travel all over the world speaking about painting techniques and giving seminars as a guest in numerous shows and fairs.

Japan, China, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, the US and France are some of the many countries where he has been invited to share the new painting techniques developed during his extensive professional expe- rience.

Some of his works are in private collections all over the world and others displayed at the Tamiya Museum in Japan.

MIG specializes in hyper-realistic painting, extreme weathering effects and an original approach to his work. Although his main subject of choice has always been military vehicles, especially those from Middle-East con icts, MIG has tried all the different scale modeling areas: Sci-Fi, aircraft, dioramas, ships, cars and trains. He has been a consultant for various hobby companies and has visited numerous museums and military bases all over the world to research and take photos of the different weathering effects present in real military vehicles.
